Although the name makes one think of a tacky, cheap nightclub, The Couch is actually a place for filing ideas – by any other order than the alphabetical one -, portraying déjà-vus and illustrating the paths driven by free associations – it is, indeed, very freudian and very retro in a fashionable kind of way.
Stage of images, light, sounds, words and whatever other content that le toile universel can support, The Couch is set to be démodé in a cool, detached way, comporting slight signs of schizophrenia in what comes to tastes, interests and, specially, languages. It is cheaper than a psychoanalyst and will cure any condition but histrionic behaviour; after all, one must concentrate on “being oneself – everyone else is already taken” (Oscar Wilde)
